KMOM 96.7 FM
Micro-Radio for OldTown
K-MOM Mission Statement
K-MOM is an extremely low-powered, “micro-radio” station. KMOM’s target audience our are denizens of "Old Town." Pensioners, shut-ins, meth-addicts, sex workers, shopkeepers, cooks, office workers, welfare mothers, college students, homeless people, county employees, fishermen - who simultateously occupy a few square blocks. While the area is known for it’s retail shops - it also provides many cheap apartments - some barely above slum conditions. Because of small power of transmission power allowable - KMOM's effective broadcast area is only about five or six square blocks. But within that area, the station delivers a crisp stereo sound. K-MOM plays entire albums - start to finish. There are no commercials. In the age of clear-channelled monolithic sameness - the GREEN TIKI's goal is to provide good music to this underserved and often overlooked population.
